MAVS GAMING NAMES DAYFRI NEW HEAD COACH

OCT. 19, 2022 (DALLAS) – Dayfri is back home. Mavs Gaming has named Ryan “Dayfri” Conger the team’s new head coach. Conger, the 2022 NBA 2K League Most Valuable Player, begins his second stint in Dallas after spending his rookie season as a player with the team.

“After meeting with Ryan for a few hours, we knew we had found our next head coach,” said Greg Nared, SVP of Mavs Gaming. “He checked every box – 3x NBA 2K League Champion, undeniable basketball IQ and leadership, and, arguably, one of the greatest players to have ever played in the NBA 2K League. With his outstanding resume, we look forward to bringing a championship title home in the near future.”

“We are extremely excited to bring Ryan back home to be the next head coach of Mavs Gaming,” said Brad Freeman, Senior Director of Mavs Gaming. “Ryan has established himself as one of the best NBA 2K League players in the world. He is the right person to take Mavs Gaming to the next level and help us bring a championship to Dallas.”

Conger joins Mavs Gaming after most recently playing with Wizards District Gaming, where he led the team to the 2022 NBA 2KL 5v5 Finals and won the 2022 NBA 2KL 3v3 Championship. In addition to MVP, Conger was also named the 2022 NBA 2KL Defensive Player of the Year.

“I’m super excited for this opportunity to represent my hometown team,” said Conger. “I’m ready to get started and bring a championship back home.”

Born in the small town of Palmer, Texas, just south of Dallas, Conger excelled in sports. After his collegiate baseball career was cut short due to injury, Conger pivoted to NBA 2KL. There, his versatility as a player and dynamic personality allowed him to excel quickly. He was drafted by Mavs Gaming in the second round of the inaugural NBA 2KL season in 2018, then traded to Wizards Gaming the next season.
