THE TICKET recap: Mavs Gaming loses heartbreaker against Knicks Gaming

ORLANDO — Entering THE TICKET as the No. 2 seed, Mavs Gaming lost in the first round to Knicks Gaming, 65-63.

Mavs Gaming faced a Knicks team that won a close game the night before over Jazz Gaming, 78-72. For the first time in two seasons, the team’s star center G O O F Y 7 5 7 did not compete in the games. The new-look Knicks placed Idrisdagoat6 at center and HazzaUK took his spot at power forward.

Despite the Mavs giving up 21 points in the first, the contest between the teams was close through three quarters. With a two-point deficit going into the final quarter, MavsGG opened the final quarter on an 8-0 run. But the Knicks quickly fired back on big threes from OriginalMalik. With the support of his family behind him, he would put up a career high of 26 points, and MavsGG’s tournament run ended on the loss.

MavsGG put on a decent offensive showcase as four of the five starters scored in double figures. Dimez secured a double double in the game on 12 points and 11 assists. Rookie of the Year candidate PeteBeBallin nearly completed another double double on 18 points (8-of-10 field goals with two free throws made) and nine rebounds. Full Box Score.

Knicks Gaming proceeded to the quarterfinals of the tournament but fell to Pacers Gaming. However in the end, Warriors Gaming Squad won THE TICKET to become the first team to win back-to-back tournaments and hold two segments of the banner chain in one season.

Back in action during Week 9, Mavs Gaming has a doubleheader with a rematch against Warriors Gaming on Wednesday, June 19 and the next day against Celtics Crossover Gaming in the 2K League Studios in New York.
