NBA 2K LEAGUE ANNOUNCES “THE TIPOFF” TOURNAMENT AND EXTENSION OF REMOTE GAMEPLAY

The NBA 2K League announced details this week of the league’s first in-season tournament of the 2020 season, THE TIPOFF powered by AT&T. The tournament will tip-off on Tuesday, June 16 before crowning a champion on Friday, June 19. All 23 teams will compete in the tournament remotely from their local markets for a total prize pool of $160,000 (USD). The tournament will air live on ESPN2 (USA) and ESPN’s digital platforms Tuesday and throughout on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
The first of three in-season tournaments, THE TIPOFF will feature two days of pool play on June 16 and 17 to determine the eight teams that advance to the playoffs on June 18 and 19. Each team will play four games in pool play, competing against up to three other teams in its group twice. At the conclusion of pool play, the seven teams with the best records in each group as well as one wild card entrant will advance to the playoffs, with the following tiebreaker scenarios applying if needed:
- Winning percentage within group of pool play rounds
- Head-to-head record within group
- Average points differential within group
- Average points scored within group
- Technical fouls accumulated throughout the NBA 2K League regular season
- Random draw

Each matchup in the playoff rounds will be played in a best-of-three format with each series victory representing progression in the tournament. Playoffs begin Thursday, June 18 (7 p.m. EST) before semi-finals on Friday, June 19 (7 p.m. EST) and finals later that night (10 p.m. EST). A total prize pool of $160,000 USD will be shared among the final four teams of the tournament (first place – $70,000; second place – $50,000; third and fourth place – $20,000 each).
Currently sitting at 6-2 in NBA 2K League standings, Mavs Gaming (6-2) will face both Celtics Crossover Gaming (0-6) and Jazz Gaming (4-1) twice on Tuesday, June 16 as part of matchups scheduled for Group 2, with hopes of advancing towards playoffs and the championship in the first tournament of the 2020 season.

The NBA 2K League also announced that remote gameplay for the regular season has been extended for at least four more weeks (through Week 11 of the regular season ending Friday, July 17). Information about the
remainder of the 2020 NBA 2K League season schedule will be announced at a later date.
Mavs Gaming (6-2) takes on Wizards District Gaming (5-1) tonight after beating Pistons GT earlier in the week. The game can be streamed live on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
